This is supposed to be an image depicting a scene from Alison Croggon book The Riddle; part of the marvellous Books of Pellinor. It's when Maerad thinks that her friend Cadvan has died, and feels utterly hopeless. It's a beautiful scene and probably my favourite; she takes out the reed pipes Ardina gave her and plays for those who she loved and then lost.
It's only a simple manipulation, although probably one of the sadder ones I've ever done. It's dark because it's one of Maerad's darkest moments; I couldn't imagine the grief that she would've felt.

This is a really well made picture, except for one thing. The flute is not held correctly. The right hand should face outward. I don't mean to be overly critical, it is just that I play flute, so...
